Our Curriculum
Learning and Development
All children from birth to five years of age fall within the Early Years Foundation Stage. This government policy initiative provides statutory requirements and guidance for the operation of all early years settings, aiming to raise standards in childcare and early education.
Based on a principled approach through four main themes, the EYFS recognises that children are unique individuals whose care and education should be tailored to meet their specific needs. Parents are clearly identified as the child’s first and most important educator and the relationship between nursery practitioners and parents should be strong and respectful of each other’s skills and abilities to support the child’s development.
A nursery environment should provide opportunities and experiences that will both consolidate existing skills and abilities yet also challenge children to make choices, take controlled risks and make decisions about their own learning. This may all sound quite daunting but in a nutshell, we will provide continuous provisions such as sand, water, painting, books, construction and role play to name but a few areas of play, that will present varied opportunities and experiences to enable your child to learn and develop to their full potential.

Planning for your child's Learning
From these observations the keyperson is then able to plan appropriate activities and experiences that will challenge and enhance their learning. Parents are encouraged to make regular contributions to their child’s termly learning plan by providing information on their needs, interests and experiences outside of the setting.
Parents will receive reports in several formats, baseline/settling in reports are produced approximately four weeks after the child’s start date, two year assessments are carried out at the end of the term that your child turns two. Parents will receive a termly progress report and pre-school children will receive a transitional report once they are ready to move onto primary school.
Freeflow Play
We operate a free flow environment. This approach has many advantages; it provides extended opportunities for making choices, learning from each other and building independence and confidence
and also allows siblings to spend time together.
Children are able to access the outdoor environment freely for the majority of the day and generally in all weathers, however on extreme
cold and wet days’ time outdoors may be reduced.
Additional Activities
To enhance our curriculum and give additional important experiences for the children, we make good use of our community, with weekly / fortnightly visits to Ransnap Woods for Forest School activities, Euxton
Library for special story times and bounce and rhyme, Euxton Care Home to play games with the elderly, a local private swimming pool for lessons and our own Allotment, where the children learn to grow and tend to a range of fruit and vegetables.
In addition we have a dance teacher and a football instructor that enhances our physical activity program, a pet rabbit so the children can learn how to care for animals and a very special Yurt for nurture groups
and special activities.
Special Education Needs
As an inclusive setting, we strive to provide for all children regardless of need.
Our knowledgeable and experienced practitioners work closely with parents and other professionals to ensure consistency and developmental progress.
